AIDF Status Card & Grading
Please read carefully to avoid confusion in regard to the grading
process for dancers and in particular around grading pairs.
In rule 19.2 it states “A dancer is entitled to be graded differently in
each style and category” There seem to be a misunderstanding in how this
rule is being interpreted so I have outlined below a few points of
clarifications for the benefit of teachers and hope this will allow the
rule to be easer understood.
Grading: Principal Teachers are responsibility for deciding at which
grade a dancer is first registered and should grade dancers to match
their ability and not their costume. Remember once registered, a dancer
holds that grade and can only go back a single grade when they go up an
age group and can never go back to beginners.
Grading is applied separately to solos and pairs e.g. a dancer can be
graded an intermediate in solos and can be graded a beginner in pairs.
Grading is also applied separately in Freestyle and in Hip-Hop.
The highest graded pair’s dancer dictates the pairs grading e.g. where a
pair consists of one dancer with a pairs grade of beginner and one
dancer with a pairs grade of starter/intermediate then the pair must
dance in starter/intermediate. (Remember a life will be lost by the
lower graded dancer “by being placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the final of a
higher grade competition in which there are 7 or more competitors.”
The oldest dancer dictates the age group a pair dances under e.g. if the
oldest dancer is 14yrs of age and the younger dancer is 13 yrs of age
then the pair must dance in under 16s section.
Slowdance grades will be equivalent to the dancers freestyle grading.
Dancers wishing to change down a grade when moving up an age group must
do so before they enter a competition in their new age group. Dancers
wishing to change grades must return their status card to the AIDF for
amending.
NOTE: Mid Season status card replacements for lost, damaged or stolen
cards will incur a €7.00 administration charge €5.00 to be sent to the
AIDF and €2.00 to be retained by the principal teacher for admin. This
charge also applies to mid season Inter School Transfers
Special Note: This only applies to dancers already registered for that
season. |
